About me

I relocated to Nacogdoches, Texas in January 1997 to attend Stephen F. Austin State University (SFA), with the goal of earning my degree and returning to Houston. However, East Texas quickly became home. After meeting my wife, Dr. Hollie Smith, and building a life here, I chose to put down permanent roots in the Nacogdoches community. Today, we are proud parents of two children, Austin and Averie, both born in Nacogdoches.

I am deeply committed to community involvement and local leadership in Nacogdoches and the East Texas region. I have served as Past Chairman of the Nacogdoches Chamber of Commerce and have been actively involved with the Economic Development Corporation, Nacogdoches Rotary Club, and the Stephen F. Austin State University Alumni Association, where I currently serve as a board member.

My additional community and nonprofit involvement include the National Wild Turkey Federation (Past President), East Texas Sportsman’s Club (Past Board Member), East Texas Off-Road Club, Nacogdoches Area United Way, and Grace Bible Church. I am also a proud supporter of SFA Lumberjack Athletics as a donor and season ticket holder.
